New Faces, Shared Purpose

At Community Library Sedona, we believe that strong libraries are built on strong community leadership. Behind the scenes of every storytime, author talk, and new book on the shelf is a team of dedicated individuals who help guide our mission forward: our Board of Directors. Board members play a vital role in shaping the vision of the library, stewarding its resources, and ensuring we remain a place of discovery, connection, and lifelong learning for all. This month, we’re thrilled to introduce the newest members of our library board – neighbors who have stepped up to serve, advocate, and dream big with us.

Let’s Meet Carolyn Fisher

Carolyn was raised in Mississippi and attended college in Virginia. She spent three years in the Peace Corps in Southeast Asia, worked as a travel agent, and after twenty years in the Air Force retired as a Lieutenant Colonel to the Village of Oak Creek. She is passionate about early childhood literacy, our library (especially the Village library), music, and the power of community.

Let’s meet Lynda Ring- Erickson

Lynda has lived in Sedona since 2022.  She is a retired County Commissioner and former police officer. Much of her professional work has been directed to public education campaigns.  She holds a Doctorate in Education from Seattle University. Most recently she served on the Board of the National Association of Counties where she chaired to Public Safety Committee.

Let’s meet Margaret Joy Weaver

Margaret Joy is a longtime Sedona resident, transformational leader, and passionate community builder. Since moving from Chicago in 1997, she has played key roles in organizations like the Sedona International Film Festival, Sedona International City of Peace, and the Human Library project. With a background in global education initiatives and the arts, she brings vision and heart to everything she touches. Deeply rooted in Sedona’s healing spirit, Margaret Joy is dedicated to fostering unity, lifelong learning, and peace—both locally and globally. She believes in the library’s power to bring people together and is honored to serve her community.

Let’s meet Kristina Remy

Kristina was born and raised in Northern Arizona, attending West Sedona School and graduating from Red Rock High School. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Arizona. Now living in Sedona with her husband, young daughter, and their dog, Kristina is a stay-at-home mom who enjoys baking, cooking, reading, hiking, running, and traveling. Passionate about community and lifelong learning, she is proud to support local literacy and enrichment as a member of the library board.

Let’s meet Anne Emerson

Anne has been a resident of Sedona since 1986, following a career in video production in the San Francisco Bay Area. In Sedona, she shifted her focus to healing and the arts, becoming a successful massage therapist, artist, and practitioner of Holographic Repatterning™ with an international client base. Michele is the creator of The Passionate Journey collage card deck and book, inspired by her background in visual storytelling. A longtime community activist, she has been involved with numerous local nonprofits and arts organizations, and is deeply committed to giving back to the town she calls home.

Let’s meet Michele Rackey

Michele is excited to join the Community Library of Sedona and is thrilled to be a part of all that happens at the library.  Michele and her husband moved her just over 4 years ago.  A Chicago native, she also spent 27 years in Baltimore MD.  She has worked on the “other side” of boards for over 30 years as a COO, CEO/ED, and currently serves as an independent trustee for a mutual fund group.

Let’s meet Paul Schiminger

Paul is the Past Executive Director of the International Bluegrass Music Association (“IBMA”), the global nonprofit association helping educate and connect bluegrass professionals, while promoting the genre. Prior to joining the IBMA, he held senior leadership positions in the financial services industry. In addition to the Community Library Sedona Board, Paul currently serves on the IBMA Board as the Treasurer and on the Board of the FreshGrass Foundation’s Steve Martin Banjo Prize. He is also a banjo player and former high school baseball coach. His wife, Alys, is a yoga instructor and volunteer teacher in Sedona.

As we welcome Carolyn, Lynda, Margaret, Kristina, Anne, Michele, and Paul to the board, we’re filled with gratitude – for their time, their insight, and their belief in the power of this library. Each of them brings a unique perspective, but they all share one thing: a commitment to helping Community Library Sedona thrive, which means our community thrives too. And just as our board helps guide the way forward, our entire community continues to show up with that same spirit of support. Thanks to your generosity during our April campaign and in the wake of funding cuts, we’re heading into the summer with the momentum and heart we need to continue offering meaningful programs, services, and opportunities to explore. Thank you for standing with us, and for being part of something bigger.

Community Library Sedona is also a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Your gifts and support, just like the Friends’ contributions, allow us to provide a plethora of services and programs for the community, for free, all year long.
