Sedona Wish List for 9/24/25

September 24, 2025

Volunteers & Participants

The Humane Society of Sedona will host a one-day adoption event alongside Coldwell Banker on Saturday, September 20, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 2115 Shelby Drive, with all adoption fees reduced by half for that day only. This event will feature open adoptions, meaning no appointments are necessary, giving visitors the chance to meet adoptable animals and find their next best friend. Plus, the Humane Society of Sedona is partnering with PetSmart Charities for “Adopt Joy,” a national campaign designed to bring attention to pet adoption through a day of fun and festivities. Each adoption that takes place during the “Adopt Joy” promotion helps unlock additional funding opportunities from PetSmart Charities, increasing support for local animals in need. For more information, contact Sarah Porter at sporter@humanesocietyofsedona.org.

Steps to Recovery Homes is kicking off a holiday toy drive to benefit children at the 71st annual Cottonwood Christmas Parade. Donations of new, unwrapped toys are now being accepted at 637 N Main St, Suite 1F, Cottonwood. Community members, businesses, and organizations are encouraged to contribute and help spread holiday cheer to local families. Goods & Services

Steps to Recovery Homes Hope House provides a safe and supportive sober living environment for men in recovery. To continue this important mission, the organization is seeking community donations of toiletries such as soap, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, shaving cream, and razors. Those interested in making a contribution may contact William Lopez at william@stepstorecoveryhomes.org.

The Humane Society of Sedona and SedonaKind are launching the “Every Dog Matters” project a community initiative designed to support pet parents who may be struggling to afford basic supplies for their dogs. Dogs bring unconditional love into people’s lives, and they deserve the essentials that keep them safe, happy, and comfortable. On Wednesday, October 8, families in need will be invited to the Sedona Community Food Bank, where they can select dog supplies at no cost. To make this effort possible, the Humane Society of Sedona is asking the community to contribute new or gently used dog items. Donations of food, leashes, beds, toys, and grooming essentials are especially appreciated. Items can be dropped off at 2115 S. Shelby Drive. For more information, contact Linda Brecher at 282-1601.

The Sedona Community Food Bank relies upon a steady stream of unexpired non-perishable food donations in order to provide healthy choices for its clients. Currently, a number of very important but fundamental foods are in short supply, including canned fruit; shelf-stable alternative milks like oat, almond, soy, etc.; full sized condiments; canned chili and canned soups. Non-perishable food donations may be delivered to the food bank at 30 Inspirational Drive in West Sedona, Monday-Thursday from 7:30 am until noon. Please call Cathleen Healy-Baiza, Executive Director, at 204-2808 with any questions.

Hope House of Sedona is seeking community support to help families cook healthy meals together as part of its household skills program, which teaches residents meal preparation, cooking, and wellness routines for their children. To support this initiative, the organization is in need of a quality juicer to enhance nutrition education, along with a durable set of stainless steel cookware that can serve multiple families for years to come. These tools will directly support families in building lasting habits around health and stability. For more information or to contribute, contact Turiya Weiss at 928-499-5865 or info@hopehouseofsedona.org

The Sedona Community Food Bank delivers 400 before-and-after-school snacks each week to four area schools during the academic year, along with 80 weekend food backpacks for children at two schools who may not have access to adequate nutrition on weekends. To continue this mission, the Sedona Community Food Bank is requesting donations from its online wish list at https://a.co/amytRuD. High-priority items include 100% fruit juice boxes, granola bars, individually wrapped peanut butter and cracker snacks, individual fruit or applesauce cups with no added sugar, and other healthy, individually wrapped snacks free of added sugars. Donations may be delivered to 30 Inspirational Drive, Monday through Thursday between 7:30 a.m. and noon. For more information, contact Cathleen Healy-Baiza at 204-2808.

Steps to Recovery Homes and NAMI Yavapai recognize that arts and crafts can be a powerful outlet for healing, self-expression, and stress relief. Together they are launching a monthly arts and crafts program for adults with lived experience in mental health or substance abuse, as well as their family members. To ensure no one is limited from joining due to lack of supplies, NAMI and Steps to Recovery Homes are asking the community for colored pencils, markers, paint, brushes, canvases, construction paper, sketch paper, scissors, tape, and other general art supplies. Every contribution helps, and as a nonprofit 501(c)(3), donation receipts can be provided. For questions, contact Quinton Ellis at quinton@stepstorecoveryhomes.org.
